#1 Schedule an appointment with a local mortgage consultant
#2 Gather the following paperwork to bring to your meeting with the mortgage consultant:
- W-2 Forms (2 years’ worth) or profit-and-loss statements (for self- employed individuals)
- Pay stubs (one month’s worth)
- Bank statements (three month’s worth) for checking, savings, and other accounts
- Tax returns (2 years’ worth)
- Mortgage papers for any other property owned
- Copies of loan papers for other loans (i.e. car loans)
- Paperwork showing any other debts
- Telephone numbers and addresses of your workplace, to verify income
#3 Meet with your mortgage consultant and fill out required forms
#4 Mortgage consultant will provide you with a pre-approval letter usually within 24-48 hours of your meeting.
