Step #3 Find Your Home Finding your home is the most exciting part of the transaction (next to having the keys handed over at the closing). Prior to looking for your home, take a few minutes to sit down and create your wish list (click here to download a generic wish list). Prioritize the features that you are looking for in a home... the amenities you need versus those that you would like to have, but could do without. By creating this list, it will help to narrow down your selection. Your agent will present you with 10 properties that all seem appealing to you, but only 2 are in the school district that you want your children to belong to... or only 3 are within a 20 minute commute to your office. By identifying those features that are most important, it will help you to stay focused when working with your agent. Once you have your wish list, let your agent begin looking for properties that meet your selection criteria. The internet has become a great tool for home buyers, since you now have the ability to search the NH Multiple Listing Service directly. Take advantage of it by searching for homes yourself, and sending them over to your agent. He/she will compile a list of properties that seem suitable. Narrow the list down to 10 properties, and head out with your agent to start viewing them. Quite often times it takes more than one trip out to find the perfect home, so don't be discouraged if you don't find it right away. Repeat the above process until you have found what you are looking for. Ultimately, you are the only one that really knows what you want. As much as you can explain it to your agent, sometimes it's just a feeling that you have when you walk into one home versus another. Take a look at the Featured Listings on this site, and browse the complete NH Multiple Listing Service as well, to begin the search for your ideal home. |
